Vamos al tiroteo

The main idea was to put at stage a record that has inspired many great artists. The sounds of 1931 are vivified and arranged with musics, directing and choreographies that are very different than what used to be done at that time. Still, it keeps the same spirit and brings the public towards the peopleĀ“s songs and musics that tell the way of life of former generations that are still inside us.

Carrasco, Rafaela

Student, flamenco dancer, repetiteur, soloist, choreographer and, today, artistic director of the Andalusian Flamenco Ballet, the former Andalusian Dance Company. Since 1994 Rafaela has been all of these: a dance activist who committed herself right from the start to this public project. Hailing from Sevilla, she began to study dance at the age of 8 with Matilde Coral. Aged 18, she joined Mario Mayaā€™s company where she became principal dancer and repetiteur. Later, she formed part of the Andalusian Dance Company as a soloist and participated in the productions De lo flamenco and RĆ©quiem (1994) and Los Caminos de Lorca (2004).
She has performed in the Tablaos of Los Gallos in Sevilla, in the CafĆ© de Chinitas in Madrid, and in El Flamenco in Tokyo. In 1996, she left Sevilla for Madrid where she danced, choreographed, and began to develop a flourishing teaching business. She gives flamenco classes of all levels throughout the world. Since it was first set up, Rafaela Carrascoā€™s company has created nine productions, including choreographies for the Spanish National Ballet, the Flamenco Festival and the Sevilla Flamenco Biennial where she was awarded major prizes. It is for this professional career and for her experience in consolidating her own company that Rafaela Carrasco was selected in September 2013 as choreographer for the Andalusian Flamenco Ballet.

Meeting with literature

Collaboration between a choreographer and a writer can lead to the emergence of a large number of combinations. If sometimes the choreographer creates his dance around the work of an author, the writer can also choose dance as the subject of his text.
