“Choreographic shows” or “choreos” are shows of less than ten minutes where the crews are alone on stage, unlike “challenges” in which groups confront each other in pairs to the music of a DJ. Staging, dance and technical feats, the musical editing, all counts to judge these Bboys (and very rare Bgirls), the best of the breakdancing crews in France and its overseas territories. In order of appearance on the screen: La Smala (Bordeaux); Subskillz (Lille); Saïan (New Caledonia); 1er Avertissement (Mantes-la-Jolie); Furies (Montpellier); Lil'Stylz (Mayotte); Legiteam Obstruxion (Le Mans); Dark Unit (Clermont-Ferrand); Dreamworks (Toulouse); Inesteam (Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois); Ultimatum (Reunion); Bad Trip (Paris); Melting Force (Saint-Etienne).
The BOTY (Battle of the Year) takes place as follows: breakdance groups present a quick show (choreo) highlighting their stage qualities. A jury of 5 people, strictly consisting of experienced dancers, chooses the 6 best groups that will confront each other in challenges. A prize is also awarded for the best show. The first 2 groups chosen by the jury go directly to the semi-finals, while the other 4 must confront each other to select two winners who in turn will proceed to the semi-finals. The 3rd group confronts the 6th, and the 4th group the 5th.
