Traversée par la rivière Ljubljanica qui se jette dans le Danube avant de rejoindre la mer Noire, la ville de Ljubljana, capitale du jeune état Slovène, est une ville très marquée par la proximité de l’Italie et de l’Autriche qu’elle intégra comme province du Saint-Empire romain germanique jusqu’à la fin du XIX° siècle, avant de rejoindre la Yougoslavie naissante. 

Spanski Borçi est le seul lieu de la capitale subventionné pour créer et diffuser la danse contemporaine en Slovénie. L’essentiel du film est tourné sur le toit et à l’arrière du bâtiment, coté entrées techniques. Administré par le chorégraphe Iztoc Kovaç, Spanski Borçi abrite l’excellente compagnie En Knap. La fin du film est tournée dans une cabine téléphonique d’un genre que nous n’avons pas retrouvé ailleurs à Ljubljana. Elle a été détruite depuis le tournage.

Veronika Valdés (1992, Ljubljana) has been dancing for over 15 years. Now working as a freelancer, Veronika finished secondary level contemporary dance programmes at the Ljubljana Music and Ballet Conservatory (under the mentorship of her mother Jana Kovač Valdés) and at the Pre-school Education, Grammar and Art Grammar School in Ljubljana. In 2011, she enrolled at the Academy of Dance, Ljubljana.

A promising young choreographer and dancer and multiple award winner, Veronika has thus fur been involved in several dance projects. Her first creation was a collaboration with young choreographers Enya Belak, Maša Hawlina and Jerca Rožnik Novak titled The Daddy Project, which was produced by the Dance Theatre Ljubljana in 2012. In the same year she also created her first solo piece The Day After. Her latest dance Dark Dinner was presented in 2019.

As a dancer and performer, she has worked with numerous Slovenian and international directors and choreographers. In 2015 she was a member of the EnKnapGroup. She is continually expanding her dance knowledge by attending different workshops and classes. She teaches contemporary dance classes and is active as a mentor at the Intakt Dance Studio and Ljubljana Music and Ballet Conservatory. She is also active as a music maker; her works have been featured on the dance film The Red Fountain and in the productions of the contemporary dance programme at the Ljubljana Music and Ballet Conservatory.

Nicolas Habas comes from cinema first, as a screenwriter and director of several short fiction films including Le mal de Claire, broadcast on French TV and documentaries (La parole en chantier, triptych on a popular neighborhood in urban renewal). He is very interested in the tensions between reality and the imaginary, society and intimacy, geography and territories. With a self-taught apprenticeship that led him to a deep understanding of the codes of the film industry, he decided to find «his» cinema and returned with Le Corps de la Ville, the web series anchored in dance, to his first loves, since he made his first dance video in 1998. Shot during the 30° Eurockéennes de Belfort Festival and Broadcast on Arte Concert, Mouvements is its second web series.
