Reface
REFACE is a physical and musical research around the idea of transformation, deformation and alteration of materials. Everything is just transition: our body, memory, the social environment, flora, romantic relationships, political powers... Movement infiltrates everything and prevents the creation of definitive and frank forms. We work on this instability on an intimate scale because faces and emotions are cloudy and plural. REFACE wants to make visible this state of transition, these imperceptible and incessant metamorphoses which make manifest the complexity of what we are. REFACE expresses this: the impossible discernment of oneself and the other. Far from being a failure, it is a mystery, a stimulating uncertainty which becomes an inexhaustible source of inspiration for our bodies and our imaginations. We want REFACE to be a place where we can play, contradict ourselves, disturb ourselves, where we can emancipate ourselves from a fixed identity and the oppressive labels we impose on ourselves. We take ourselves for one or another, we replay postures, simulate the looks and expressions of our idols and our ghosts. We go from animal to color, from bourgeoisie to revolution, from obsolete to contemporary, from star to banal. We are one! Who is it ? What is this? A ghost or a vampire? A child or old people? Laughter or terror? Impossible to answer. Nothing is fixed or named. Everything is confusion and illusion. Games and tricks. Cinema and lies.

Les idoles
Our working approach: searching, searching, stealing references, slipping into the skin of another, reincarnating, (de)mystifying,... We are a tribute collective, crossed by a thousand references, cinematographic, photographic and musical. Thank you grandma Gisou for her topless shot on the beach in Saint-Tropez, thank you Beyoncé for her widely plagiarized Countdown clip from Rosas danst Rosas by Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker and thank you Buster Keaton for your hip swing in The play house. This work space that we want to be unique and offbeat allows us to question the images that surround us from the most popular to the most elitist, from the most iconic to the most trivial. Who are the figures that we adore? Which ones do we forget or which persist over time? From bodily and musical research we create projects, hybrid performances that are often offbeat and/or anachronistic. We like to play with codes, change viewing angles and divert images that are too static. Thus the question of the gaze and the relationship with the public runs through our work and forces us to reinvent ourselves: ourselves and our relationship to space. The Les Idoles collective is part of the LA FEAT platform.
