Éist

In Éist we are invited to listen to the dancer. An experimental short dance film created to explore the musicality of percussive dance.
The soundtrack was created through a collaboration with Irish dancer, Stephanie Keane, and Concertina player, Cormac Begley.
With sound and movement exploration at the heart of this film, Éist explores the internal experience of the contemporary traditional Irish dancer, speaking to wider themes of identity, authenticity, defiance and reclamation.

Note from EIVV curator, Blas Payri

This piece was selected for its extraordinary integration of music, the dancer's movement and live sound, in a highly filmic montage that follows the musical rhythm. It is a particularly musical videodance in its conception.

Keane, Stephanie

Keane, Stephanie

Stephanie Keane hails from Limerick where she began her Irish Dancing journey at the age of 4, competing competitively in Irish Step Dancing at World Championship level.  Stephanie relocated to East Clare where she fell in love with the Sean Nos style of dancing.  Through this immersion in Sean Nos, she has developed a unique style of percussive dance.
