Ari De B, le corps engagé
Lissia - Ari De B or Habibitch on the internets is a dancer and committed thinker. After studying at Sciences Po on intersectionality, this activist threw herself body and soul into her fight. First with hip-hop, then through voguing - created by the Afro Latino LGBT ballroom community in New York in the 70s - and waacking, its "ultimate crush" - a dance born in the gay clubs of Los Angeles 70s disco.
Habibitch
Habibitch, real name Lissia Benoufella, is a non-binary artist, voguing and waacking dancer, of Franco-Algerian origin, formerly known as Ari de B. Decolonial feminist queer activist, she transforms the tracks of dance in political space.
Before she started dancing, she discovered voguing in 2011, while traveling to San Francisco with her partner at the time. There, she works for an LGBT film festival, where the film Paris is Burning, directed by Jennie Livingston, is screened. The vision of this film provokes in her a real “epiphany”.
In 2013, she auditioned for a professional hip-hop dance school, which hired her. Already involved in activism, she then lives in a squat and evolves in the queer feminist anarchist milieu, as an intersectional activist. The discovery of voguing allows her to consider bringing together her political commitment and her passion for dance. She then gravitated towards the Paris Ballroom Scene, the Parisian voguing community, where she met Kiddy Smile, who took an interest in her and allowed her to enter the House of Mizrahi in 2015.
In 2017, she organized her first dance conference, which she called Décoloniser le dancefloor and which she then adapted according to the places where she intervenes, by imposing "the application of all her intersectional and decolonial practices to dance".
At the same time, she gives workshops and leads conferences, in particular a voguing workshop for the Tunis Chouftouhonna feminist art festival in 2017. "Godmother" of the House of Gorgeous Gucci, in Paris, she also gives introductory courses at the waacking in the Parc de la Villette, in Paris.

Western classical dance enters the modernity of the 20th century: The Ballets russes and the Ballets suédois
If the 19th century is that of romanticism, the entry into the new century is synonymous of modernity! It was a few decades later that it would be assigned, a posteriori, the name of “neo-classical”.
